Pieter van Zyl: I have been in the industry about 12 years. Working mostly with Java creating web applications and working on integrations. I have experience in: J2EE (JSF,SEAM,EJB3,JPA,SERVLETS),Tomcat,Jboss,Weblogic, Gemstone+Versant+db4o (odbms's), Hibernate,Linux. Currently working at a company called Tradestream in the retail sector. Before that I was working at the Meraka Institute (www.meraka.org.za) @ CSIR (The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research -> csir.co.za) as a Java Developer in the Open Source field, and doing my studies at the University of Pretoria where I obtained my Msc in Computer Science. I am also part of the Espresso research group(espresso.cs.up.ac.za). My studies involve investigating the persistence layer and looking into object persistence mechanisms: ORM tools and Object Databases. New interests are: Machine Learning, BigData, Hadoop and parallel databases (Object parallel databases of course.....)
